Teaching and Learning Day

A further teaching and learning day was held in the School of Science and Technology, University of Northampton, Uk on the 20th December 2010. Bringing together academic staff from the School and some staff from one of the school's partner colleges - Tresham College of Further and Higher Education. The event was held in the Newton Building.



Talks

  • Tales of the Unexpected by Jill Pickard -  'Horror Stories' from Exam Boards, providing food for thought on how mistakes can lead to complications. 
  • Dissertation by John Butcher considering the university's dissertation policy, participants experiences of being supervised (both positive and negative) and left participants to consider the fittest for purpose of the dissertation and should we consider alternatives to the standard dissertation.
  • Helena Beeson from Information Resources refreshed the group on some of the resources that were available, some new resources and offered to come into teaching session to provide specific support to students based for a specific assignment.
  • Mick Freeman discussed the new integrated communication system.
The next event is expected next term.
